Navy Captain (Retired) Paul Weckman is a native of Mankato, Minnesota. He graduated from Minnesota State University in 1985. He holds a Master of Management and Administration Degree from Metropolitan State University of Minnesota, successfully completed the Naval War College Fleet Seminar Program in Joint Military Operations and a Human Resource Management Certificate from George Mason University. In March of 1986, Captain Weckman received his commission as an Ensign in the United States Navy. In July of 1986 he graduated from Surface Warfare Officer School in Coronado, California. Over his 26 years of active duty service he made multiple overseas deployments, served tours in recruiting, manpower, training, assumed command on two occasions and served at the Pentagon.

Captain Weckman is married to the former Penny Lynn Riese of Mankato, Minnesota. They have two sons, Andrew and Michael. He is actively engaged with his church where he and his wife are marriage preparation advisors and he is a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, DAV and VFW. In the past couple of years he had served on the Board of Directors of Warriors Never Give Up which provides combat and service connected disabled Veterans a healing experience through outdoor adventures and is currently serving as a Board Director for the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance. In an advisory role, he also provides support to the South Dakota chapter of Folds of Honor and with the Wings of Valor Lodge. He is currently employed with Sanford Health as Head of Military and Veteran Affairs.
